Super Smash Bros. Brawl details its controls

The frequent updates to the official website for Super Smash Bros. Brawl have been quite nice in spite of the recent announcement that the game's North American release has been delayed until next year. At least we're left to wait with new tidbits of information now and again. So far, we know a ton about the game's character roster, most of the game's modes—including co-op and online multiplayer—and even a bit about the game's story.

Wii Remote ControlsFollowing a previous announcement which detailed the different controllers that will work with the game, Nintendo has now disclosed the exact controls for the Wii Remote, down to what each and every button on the controller does. Holding the remote sideways like an NES controller, the d-pad is used for movement, A is used for taunting, B for guarding, the minus button for grabbing, the 1 button for special moves, the 2 button for the standard attack, and a combination of buttons for the "Smash Attack" ultimate moves.

Various other functions are possible by combining two of the aforementioned buttons: throwing items is done by holding down B and pressing 2, dodging is done by holding down B and pressing a direction.

While the setup seems simple enough, I do have one little issue with it. Why is the taunt button A and the grab button minus? That seems strange; I would have privileged grabbing over taunting, and the minus button is a bit of a reach for even me—and I have pretty big hands. Thankfully, this is offset by the fact that you can also grab by holding down the B button to guard and then pressing the 2 button.
